Interview of a fellow freshman

It's Tuesday morning and my second day of classes. I survived the steep climb up the mountain (well technically it's a hill since there aren't any official mountains in Pennsylvania) from Zoellner Arts Center to Drown Hall in under the ten minutes of time I was alloted with my schedule. I headed down to the bottom floor of Drown, huffing and puffing wondering in my mind if I'm late and if the professor would be pissed at me for not showing up on time to his Composition and Literature class. To my surprise, I'm not late, I'm not even right on time, I'm acutally a few minutes early. How the hell it happened, I have no clue, but I award myself with the closest seat possible and begin to rest my throbbing leg muscles.
Our professor begins with the normal first day of class routine: introductions, syllabus, etc. He explains we'll be keeping a blog and our first assignment is to interview a person in the room. Any person we so choose.
In my mind the word "shit" is on constant replay. I HATE having to pick a random person on the first day of classes. I look around the room and see if there is any chance that I recognize anyone and save myself from the humiliation of being the last person in the room without a partner.

I know no one.

I decide to go with plan B and check the person sitting next to me. We make eye contact, I smile and ask if he has a partner. He replies, "no" and I proceed with the question, "Do you want to be partners?" He smiles and says, "sure", and I mentally give a big sigh of relief. And my legs are happy for not having to move from my chair. (I don't think I'll ever get used to these hills here at Lehigh).

We decide mutually that I'll begin with the interview first. I discover that my mystery partner's name is Joshua and he is living in the neighboring Palmer dorm in Lower Centenial. We debate which is better (Williams of course). He tells me he is an engineering major, either in material science or industrial/mechanical. He's from a small town outside Middlebury, Vermont and an alarm goes off again in my head. "Middlebury, that's where Steven is going to school," I say to myself silently. I decide to share this news with Josh that I have heard of Middlebury because I have a friend attending college there. It's trivial knowledge and I'm sure he could care less, but I shared it with him anyway.
We proceed with the average interview questions. Josh has an older sister and two younger brothers. He lives on a farm and is a sheperd (which is so cool). He listens to progressive rock and his favorite movie is Ratatouille. I love Ratatouille also.
Josh is into martial arts and loves the book Lord of the Rings. I inform him that I have never seen the movies and he reccomends that I watch them.
I'll have to remember that.
He loves video games and his favorite is the half-life series.
He also loves pasta.
For one last question, I decide to ask him if he could meet anyone dead or alive who would it be AND if he could travel to any point in time where would he go. He chuckles and pauses for a moment.
I know I'm a pain for asking questions that make you think because I myself don't have an answer to either one of those.
Josh answers with he would meet Teddy Roosevelt and travel back in time to right after World War II. Satisfied with both answers, I tell him its his turn to interrogate me.
